For better or for worse, all it takes is a brief look at the numbers to see that the modern state of Israel is unviable.
It’s important to point out that there is a difference between Israel proper, where (most) Palestinians are citizens and have the ability to vote, and the Occupied Territories of Gaza and the West Bank, which are governed by Israel under a form of martial law, and where Palestinians have limited rights and cannot vote in Israeli elections.
All figures are from the year 2022 and are rounded for convenience. If you disagree with the numbers, feel free to do your own research.
Jewish population of Israel (proper): 7 million
Palestinian population of Israel (proper): 2.6 million
Palestinian population of West Bank + Gaza: 3 million
Jewish population of West Bank + Gaza: 0.4 million
Palestinian refugee population abroad registered with UNRWA: 5.9 million
Sum Total
Adding up the above, we get:
Total Israeli Jewish population: 7.4 million
Total number of Palestinians under Israeli control: 11.5 million
Total number of Palestinians worldwide: 17.4 million
Total number of Jews worldwide: 16 million
Furthermore:
Israeli Jewish birthrate: 19.7 per 1000
Palestinian birthrate: 30.5 per 1000
The Writing on the Wall
A lot of people have a lot of very powerful emotions and beliefs about Israel and Palestine, and there is certainly a lot of history involved, but whichever way you look at it, Israel (as a Jewish state) has zero chance of long-term sustainability.
I just happened upon your site and have been happily reading it (silently) all morning. So I thank you for it.
I realize that numbers are the crucial issue if Israel wants to do voting and keep the Jewish majority, but I'm not seeing your math here. How did you get the 11.5M figure and still have the 5.9M refugees to add to world total?
